JUAN CARLOS CRUZ OSORIO
Biography
Juan Carlos Cruz Osorio was born in 1976 and currently lives and works in Pompano Beach, Florida. He began his formal artistic training in 1991, graduating with an Elementary level in Fine Arts from the Holguín School of Art in Cuba. Since then, painting and drawing have been his primary mediums.
In 2015 he traveled to Ecuador, where he reconnected with the fine arts environment. The following year, in 2016, he moved to the United States, where he continues to reside and create. He later completed a Master of Fine Arts degree at Miami International University of Art and Design, marking the highest point of his academic career.
Born and raised in Holguín, Cuba, Juan Carlos grew up immersed in a rich cultural and tropical environment that shaped his early artistic development and laid the foundation for a style that bridges classical and contemporary approaches. Through his brushwork, he explores the intersection of these influences, drawing from surrealism to develop a personal visual language that borders on magical realism.
His work places equal importance on conceptual depth and aesthetic refinement, with particular attention to detail, color, and technical execution. Juan Carlos continues to push boundaries and challenge conventional perceptions, remaining an artist in constant evolution.
He has participated in numerous exhibitions, including: a group show in Quito, Ecuador (2015); Alliance for the Arts in Fort Myers, Florida (2019); Amalgamation at the Ancient Spanish Monastery in Miami (2021); his MFA solo exhibition at ID Art Supply Store in Miami (2022); the group exhibition Los Siete at ID Art Lab in Miami (2023); and the solo show Mystical Narrative at Kimpton Epic Hotel in Miami (2023).
